Darryl “Debo” Washington

Darryl “Debo” Washington, is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. He is a 1996 initiate of Montgomery Alumni. In December of 2021, he was appointed Beta Zeta Chapter Advisor. He has more than 25 years of experience as an educator and currently serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Federal Programs with Lowndes County Public Schools. His primary duties include supervision and management of Accountability, School Improvement, Graduation and Dropout Rates, Summer School, Credit and Grade Recovery, Safe and Drug Free Schools, Student Enrichment, the Alabama Reading Initiative, the Alabama Math and Science Initiative, Compliance Monitoring, Special Programs, and Grant Writing. He has worked as a Federal Programs Specialist with Montgomery Public Schools, an Educational Specialist with the Alabama Department of Education, a Title I Instructional administrator with Montgomery Public School District, an Adjunct English Instructor with South University Montgomery Campus and as an English teacher for Montgomery and Lowndes Counties. Prior to becoming an educator, he worked in several local media outlets, including radio announcer and news reporter with WVAS, the morning show host with WXVI, talk show host with WACV and production with WCOV FOX TV. He is a member of Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church.
